Being South Africa's largest private reserve, it covers an area of over 111,000 hectares. Tswalu is unique in many ways, offering a more bespoke and exclusive way. Few destinations can compare with the serenity and peace found in South Africa's bushveld. Madikwe, meaning "Africa in all its splendour", is located in the uniquely beautiful and malaria-free North West Province, close to the Botswana border. This reserve is one of the largest and most exclusive in South Africa. Madikwe's wooded hills give way to flat savannah plains, distinguished by deep-red earth and sekelbos thickets. A lush river basin and cascading waters also feature the Marico River. A beautiful diversity of biomes is inhabited by many mammals, including the notorious Big Five of Africa.
