Trip Route
1 night at Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel
With a name that means 'place of gold', Gauteng (pronounced how-teng) is the smallest of the nine provinces in SA yet contributes 37% to the country's economy. Gauteng lies on the great interior plateau of Southern Africa - the Highveld - and stretches northward from the Vaal River into the Free State. From the mines of Johannesburg to the skyscrapers of Sandton, there is a vibrancy about the city that reflects different ethnicities, cultures, and lifestyles. Here, numerous markets, museums, theatres and restaurants provide a constant source of distraction, whilst Sun City and Pretoria are all on your doorstep.
2 nights at Muluwa Lodge
The Lowveld Region is situated in the lower reaches of the Mpumalanga escarpment. With various attractions to explore, it is well known for its Sudwala Caves and wild horses while offering some of the most beautiful hiking trails. The Lowveld is home to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, caring for many of South Africa's abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife. Public visits allow for close encounters with the creatures, and the centre aims to make the public aware of the threats and problems facing our wildlife today. A visit to the Lowveld is a fantastic experience with so many things to do and places to see.
Other things to do at this location:
2 nights at Idube Game Reserve
The Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve is located in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, adjacent to the Kruger National Park. Officially named Sabi Sand Wildtuin, the reserve consists of a group of private game lodges. Big game roams freely throughout this pristine part of southern African. Many wildlife species live in this diverse habitat, including the Big 5, the cheetah, and the endangered wild dog. Day and night safaris lead by expert game rangers follow the animals on and off the road deep into the heart of the bushveld. Walking safaris allow guests to feel the pulse of untamed Africa through the soles of their feet.
Included Services:
1 night at Ecolux Boutique Hotel
The Mpumalanga province in Southern Africa hosts the town of Komatipoort, located on the outskirts of the Crocodile River. The town is a mere eight kilometres from the Crocodile Bridge Gate into Kruger National Park and just a few kilometres from the Mozambique border. The hot summer climate makes for delicious subtropical fruits produced by local farmers. It boasts golf courses, tiger fishing, and elephant-back safaris, which make a visit to this town well worth the effort. Experience the natural appeal of the wild frontier when staying overnight at any of the many beautiful accommodation options in Komatipoort.
1 night at Mkhaya Game Reserve's Stone Camp
In the south of Swaziland, Mkhaya Game Reserve is known as the heart of the Lowveld. A magnificent African bush covering unspoilt land, where endangered species roam freely in the protected wilderness. Mkhaya is a pioneering breeding project and a sanctuary for many endangered species. They aim to introduce endangered animals back into Swaziland. Intimate encounters with Africa's most iconic creatures are a big part of the reserve. Here, all travel is guided, either by open Land Rovers or on foot, offers excellent photographic opportunities, and boasts the best chance of seeing Black Rhino in the African wild today.
Included Services:
2 nights at St Lucia Livingston Lodge
St Lucia is found in the northeastern part of KwaZulu Natal, offering a tropical climate and warm oceans all year round. The town lies in the heart of unspoilt beauty with plenty of wildlife. St Lucia is surrounded by an estuary, homing various ecosystems, including swamps, coral reefs, beaches and woodlands. The popular Crocodile Centre features a breeding program for two endangered species - the dwarf and long-snout crocodile. Here, hippo and croc cruises are on offer, providing guests with a chance to view these animals up close. The Hluhluwe Game Reserve nearby offers unique guided drives in and around the area.
Other things to do at this location:
2 nights at Petite Provence
Several large schools of bottlenose dolphins are frequently seen on KwaZulu Natal's north coast, giving it the name Dolphin Coast. As a playground of warm waters, incredible waves, and glorious beaches, the Dolphin Coast can be found in a region that offers warm weather almost the entire year. Beautiful coastal holiday towns such as Ballito and Salt Rock offer tidal pools and excellent fishing, along with endless sunshine and perfect swimming conditions. The nearby golf courses add further appeal. Yet, it's the idleness and lazy beach days that make this coast one of the province's most popular destinations.
2 nights at Cathedral Peak Hotel
As the tallest mountain range in Southern Africa, the Northern Drakensberg provides access to the Royal Natal National Park. In the winter months, the peaks of the Northern Drakensberg are often covered with snow, creating many scenic vistas. The region is most notable for its Amphitheatre, a 500-meter-high rock face that extends for 5 kilometres. The area is a popular hiking and rock climbing destination. Some of the more challenging hiking trails stop at mountain caves for overnight accommodation. The dams and rivers in the lower slopes offer trout fishing, a popular activity among the locals.
